Gout is an inflammatory arthritis associated with hyperuricemia caused by accumulation of uric acid within the joints. Dietary modification and lifestyle are often recommended for patients with gout to help manage gout and prevent flares.

Food that cases gout

Some foods may trigger an attack by increasing uric acid levels in people with gout, and thus by avoiding them it will be easier to manage the disease.

Food to avoid with gout

foods that are rich in purines, such as meat and certain types of seafood such as Shellfish, non-diet soda (high-fructose drinks), high alcohol intake (especially beer).

New research has found that purines in vegetables are safe such as mushrooms, Cherry products such as unsweetened cherry juice can reduce gout flares, coffee and water intake, Low-fat dairy intake also can help lower uric acid level.

Dietary vitamin C supplement has been shown to reduce the risk of gout.
